OTHER WAYS TO HELP OUR MISSION.
Pin-ups are a great way to promote awareness of Habitat for Humanity at your school or office. For a nominal donation, people can sign their names on a house pin-up and hang it in a high-traffic area to show their support of Habitat Seminole & Greater Apopka.
Costumes for a Cause
On a specified day, make a predetermined contribution to Habitat for the privilege of wearing a Halloween costume to school. Make it a challenge - see which group (class, department, etc.) has the most participants. Be sure to have this fundraiser preapproved to determine the appropriateness of this idea.
Ask friends and family to help you make a variety of baked goods, and sell them at a price that will ensure you'll make a profit. Holidays are great times to hold bake sales because people are always looking for easy and delicious gifts and treats. Be sure to publicize the sale ahead of time, so people know to bring cash.
Hold a car wash at a local business. Ask the owner/manager to donate the use of space and water.
Gather friends, family and neighbors to hold a large garage sale. Be sure to include signage stating that all proceeds benefit Habitat for Humanity of Seminole County & Greater Apopka.
Percentage of the Proceeds
Ask a local establishment to donate a percentage of the day's/morning's/afternoon's/night's proceeds to Habitat Seminole & Greater Apopka. In return, you should promote the event in the office, at school and/or within the local community to help drive traffic to the establishment. The more people who attend, the more money you will receive.
A Penny Per...
Certain businesses are willing to donate a penny per item sold on a particular day or month to a charity (i.e. gas stations donate a penny per gallon of gas sold for a month).
Penny Wars/Jar Wars
Select a specific week and ask people to contribute coins (i.e. pennies on Monday, nickels on Tuesday, dimes on Wednesday, quarters on Thursday, $1 bills on Friday).
Set up an event, and charge a fee to participants of the tournament or game. (card games, athletic games, etc.) You may also consider charging a small admission fee to spectators. Try to solicit donations of supplies and sponsors (a host restaurant, for example). Provide a prize for the winning team/individual.
This fundraiser could apply around Halloween, Christmas or Valentine's Day. Sell small bags of seasonal candy for a price that will ensure a profit. People can buy treats for themselves or as gifts for others to be hand-delivered during a preapproved time. Have candy/treats donated to ensure a higher profit margin.
