ORLANDO, Fla.– The Orlando Housing Authority (OHA) presented Habitat for Habitat for Humanity Seminole-Apopka with the Chairman’s Community Impact Award during its October Board of Commissioners meeting, recognizing the nonprofit’s longstanding commitment to expanding affordable housing opportunities and creating lasting stability for Central Florida families.

Habitat for Humanity Seminole-Apopka CEO Penny Seater accepted the award on behalf of the organization, which has spent more than 35 years helping income-qualified families achieve affordable homeownership. Recognized among the nation’s top 50 Habitat home producers, the nonprofit brings together government agencies, businesses, volunteers and philanthropic partners to develop affordable homes while providing families with financial education and a pathway to generational wealth.

“Habitat for Humanity exemplifies what is possible when a community comes together around a shared purpose,” said John Crossman, Chair of the OHA Board of Commissioners. “Their work goes far beyond building homes. They are changing lives, creating opportunities and giving families a foundation for a stronger future. We are grateful for their leadership and commitment to affordable housing, which directly supports OHA’s mission. We hope their example inspires even more organizations to join us in building meaningful solutions for our community.”

The Chairman’s Community Impact Award recognizes organizations demonstrating measurable contributions to affordable housing, housing stability and resident opportunity through meaningful partnerships and sustainable community investment.

Through the award program, OHA aims to celebrate community champions whose leadership and collaboration helps address housing challenges and improve quality of life across Central Florida.
