Jasmine is an Orlando native and a single mother to a seven-year-old son. She works as an account manager for an insurance company and is completing a master\u2019s degree in risk management and business at Florida State University, which will help her grow in her profession. She also attends church and is an active member of her local community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jasmine is determined to successfully complete the Habitat Homebuyer Program, while balancing work, school, and childcare, to secure a safe home for her family. She and her son currently reside in a neighborhood that is not well lit and has been the scene of several reported crimes. Additionally, Jasmine\u2019s home exposes her and her son to wires hanging from the ceiling, broken electrical sockets, severe plumbing issues, and multiple pest infestations. The property has not been well maintained by the landlord, and the house has been deemed hazardous by Habitat\u2019s Homebuyer Selection Committee.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A home of their own would give Jasmine\u2019s son a safe place to spend time with his cousins, play soccer outside, and feel comfortable playing video games in his own home. For Jasmine, a home will give her a secure space to host family and friends, as well as the stability and comfort to read and garden in her free time. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jasmine says a permanent home not only \u201cmeans stability for my family,\u201d but it also \u201cshows what hard work looks like to my son.\u201d After signing on to the Habitat’s homebuyer program only a month ago, Jasmine already has over 40 of her 200 hours of sweat equity completed and she is excited to keep working towards homeownership.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
