Habitat for Humanity Seminole-Apopka was one of many Central Florida organizations to be recognized by Orlando Health for their commitment to helping local communities. Members from Habitat joined other nonprofits for the award celebration Monday morning, November 17, 2025, at the Inter & Co. Stadium in downtown Orlando.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Orlando Health\u2019s longstanding support and generous partnership with Habitat for Humanity Seminole-Apopka has benefited Habitat\u2019s programs and families through the years. Orlando Health\u2019s Community Grants are awarded through their Community Benefit programs, working to help improve economic stability, healthcare access and quality, neighborhoods and built environments, and social and community life. Last year, Orlando Health\u2019s 2025 Community Benefit programs positively impacted 151,190 people across Lake County, Orange Couty, Osceola County, and Seminole County.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Habitat CEO, Penny Seater, and Habitat Mortgage and Down Payment Coordinator, Jessie Alexander, accepted the award on behalf of Habitat for Humanity Seminole-Apopka. Habitat was awarded Orlando Health\u2019s generous Community Grant in support of there financial programs<\/a> and the HUD certified counseling services<\/a> offered to the public.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Their financial programs include a virtual Financial Academy and various workshops covering topics such as down payment assistance, mortgage payments, different types of insurance programs, and general financial health and stability.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Habitat\u2019s in-house HUD certified financial counselor, Lori Rivera, works to ensure local residents improve their financial skills and stabilize their finances. Lori reviews mortgage and expense management, credit, foreclosure prevention, homebuyer readiness, and general budgeting and financial planning. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Habitat\u2019s Homebuyer Services department works to help Central Florida communities improve financial literacy and general quality of life through resources such as the workshops above, which are at no cost to participants. The Community Grant from Orlando Health helps to improve the resources their organization provides to the community, allowing Habitat to continue helping our neighbors even further.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
