Habitat for Humanity Seminole-Apopka hosted the annual Habitat Achievement Awards on April 24, 2026, at Eastmonte Park Civic Center in Altamonte Springs, FL. Over 100 Central Florida volunteers, fundraisers, mentors, and community partners were celebrated, including special recognition for those who have gone above and beyond in their efforts. There to present awards and show their gratitude for Habitat supporters was Habitat CEO Penny Seater, COO Kelly Pisciotta, Volunteer Coordinator Josephine Bunn, Chairman of the Board David Johnson, and board member and long-time supporters Susan Rich and Rick Pullum.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Event guests were also joined by Keetonia, a Habitat homeowner of six years, who shred how a sudden, steep rent increase led her family to Habitat for Humanity and ultimately to a stable, affordable home they worked hard to earn together. She described how homeownership has brought her family lasting stability, financial confidence, and a sense of community\u2014creating a foundation for opportunity and wealth for future generations. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cHabitat Seminole-Apopka has grown with purpose by expanding our reach, increasing our impact, and strengthening the systems that have allowed us to serve more Central Florida families like Keetonia\u2019s,\u201d said Penny Seater, CEO of Habitat for Humanity Seminole-Apopka. \u201cProgress at this scale doesn\u2019t happen alone. It happens when local governments, financial institutions, developers, philanthropies, and nonprofits come together to propel our \u2018people-first\u2019 development by unlocking land, resources, and opportunities that make affordable homeownership possible.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The evening also highlighted Habitat\u2019s \u201cBlueprint for the Future,\u201d a promise to continue to grow with purpose, and place families at the forefront of every decision, building not only homes, but lasting pathways to stability and opportunity. This blueprint will continue to guide our organization as we expand our role as both a construction company and land developer to more effectively address Central Florida\u2019s growing housing needs, and this would not be possible without help from our valued partners and supporters. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
