Accepted into Program: May 6, 2024

Job: Assistant Family Teacher

Neighborhood: Women Build 2025 Property

Jaylon Hernandez Lee is a dedicated single father to his 15-year-old adoptive son, Micah, who is a passionate basketball player at his high school. Growing up in a large family in Oviedo, Jaylon always found joy in family life. Originally aiming for a career in law enforcement, he ultimately found his calling in education with the public school system.

After realizing his passion for helping at-risk youth, Jaylon began working at a youth care organization, where he met Micah. Understanding the challenges Micah would face, Jaylon stepped in to offer guidance, showing him the potential for a bright future, including college.

Now renting a home in Oviedo with uncertain rent increases, Jaylon took a bold step toward homeownership by joining the Habitat Financial Academy and applying for Habitat’s Homebuyer Program. With rising rental costs, Jaylon is determined to provide a stable home for his son and create lasting memories together.

A man of deep faith, Jaylon felt God’s guidance as he signed his Habitat papers, marking the beginning of an exciting new chapter. He hopes his story will inspire other single fathers, showing that with the right support, they too can build a better future for their children. “Real men ask for help,” Jaylon says, encouraging others to seek assistance when needed.
