As Penny Seater enters her 16th year leading Habitat for Humanity Seminole-Apopka, she remains the driving force behind strengthening affordable housing solutions in Central Florida. Under Penny’s leadership, Habitat for Humanity Seminole-Apopka has created opportunities and transformed lives through the building of over 250 homes.
Recognizing that financial literacy was a barrier many homebuyers faced, Penny founded Habitat Seminole-Apopka’s Financial Academy program with the support and collaboration of the government, corporations, non-profits, churches and various individuals of the community. Under her guidance, this program created pathways to homeownership for hundreds of Central Florida residents with lower incomes in 2024.
Penny has been innovative in the Habitat approach to build on infill lots and ready-to-build land as Habitat Seminole-Apopka has embarked on land development. She has positioned the affiliate as both a homebuilder and developer of land for vertical construction and has done so by encouraging cross-collaboration. As a recognized and respected leader among Central Florida’s business and nonprofit communities, Penny continues to steer the organization to become the solution that unites Central Florida around affordable housing solutions, responding to the region’s challenges through her dedicated leadership.
