Learn the skills you need to become financially stable.
Take control of your financial future and enroll in our Financial Academy. The next session starts on October 3, 2023.
NOTE: The Financial Academy is a resource for the entire community! It does NOT guarantee you will be accepted into our Habitat Homebuyers Program, nor is it the “first step.” You will learn how to take control of your financial future whether you choose to apply to Habitat or not!
What is the Financial Academy?
The Financial Academy teaches budgeting, creating a savings plan, managing debt, establishing good credit and discusses the homebuying process. The goal of this program is to provide families and individuals with the tools they need to become financially stable. For those interested in one day becoming a homeowner, whether through the Habitat Seminole-Apopka Homebuying Program or any other, this is a great place to get on the right path to achieve that goal.
Participants currently in the Habitat Program will receive Sweat Equity hours for completing the Financial Academy.
The Financial Academy is a 6-week financial education course. It is designed to empower and guide participants to become knowledgeable on good financial practices. At this time the program is completed virtually with weekly online classes.
“The Focus Program (now Financial Academy) has helped me set realistic goals for myself. I will apply what I’ve learned to pay off my debts. The Focus Program will help me with my credit because of the ways I’ve learned that I can improve it. I learned how to budget in order to help me with building my savings.”
Catorreia is a mother of 2-year-old twins (one boy and one girl!) who works for a mental health agency. She has completed her Financial Focus classes and is working on purchasing her forever home!
Thanks to our generous sponsor, the Financial Academy is currently offered to everyone in the community at no cost!
