Local community members joined Habitat for Humanity Seminole-Apopka in a special Home Dedication Ceremony to recognize two first-time homebuyers and the near completion of their homes. The new homebuyers were surrounded by Habitat leadership, community partners, elected officials, volunteers, and supporters who celebrated in support as they received the keys to their new homes, symbolizing a more stable and bright future.
After welcoming local leaders and event guests, CEO of Habitat for Humanity Seminole-Apopka, Penny Seater emphasized the importance of public-private partnerships when addressing the need for affordable housing in Central Florida. Following Seater’s introduction, Orange County Mayor, Jerry Demings congratulated the new homebuyers, handing them their keys and stressing to the crowd that there is a need for affordable housing solutions today.
Event attendees also witnessed a prayer and blessing by Apostle Reno Johnson of Global Impact Church, congratulatory letters gifted to the new homebuyers from Florida Senator Rick Scott delivered by Bonita Scase, and a final ribbon-cutting ceremony. Guests were then invited to tour the new homes and enjoy fresh snacks while networking with neighbors, community members, Habitat volunteers, and local leaders.
The completion and dedication of these two homes represent months of corporate, faith based, and community build days, symbolizing how collaboration, service, and grassroot investments can expand access to safe, affordable housing across Central Florida. This milestone was reached because of the generosity of local partners and the dedication of volunteers committed to strengthening their community.
Habitat CEO Penny Seater said home dedications “stand as a powerful reminder that when the community comes together—businesses, faith groups, volunteers, and families—we can break down barriers to homeownership and create lasting change.” Attendees witnessed the growth of this community as two families stepped into their homes surrounded by new neighbors, volunteers, organization partners, and loved ones.
Habitat for Humanity looks to strengthen communities through partnerships with donors, sponsors, and community members, addressing access to affordable housing one home at a time. Currently, Habitat is hosting a 2025 Give Local Drive, open for anyone to donate who would like to help contribute to affordable housing solutions.
