How Stable Housing Supports Student Success
We’re still in the heart of summer, but signs of a new school year are starting to pop up—sales on school supplies, calendars filling up, and families getting ready for the routines ahead. As we begin to look toward back-to-school season, it’s also a time to think about what helps students start the year strong—from a safe place to live to a safe route to school.
This August marks one year since six families moved into their homes in Leadership Point, a Habitat-built neighborhood designed to offer more than just shelter. For the children living there, a stable home brings something powerful: a better chance to focus, rest, and grow—not just in their classes, but also in sports, hobbies, clubs, and all of the special interests that children deserve to explore.
Back-to-School Safety: Resources for Drivers and Families
We also want to recognize the many people—parents, caregivers, neighbors, and especially drivers—who help keep our families safe during the busy back-to-school months. Safe driving around neighborhoods, bus stops, and school zones protects not just your own family, but someone else’s too.
As summer winds down, take a moment to review these helpful safety resources from the Florida Department of Transportation and our local public school districts for Seminole and Orange Counties:
