In honor of Women in Construction Week, we would like to shine a spotlight on a valued member of Habitat Seminole-Apopka’s construction team: Madilynn Pierre, Construction Administrator. As a driving force behind our organization, she works to develop contracts with construction partners, oversee the team’s construction management software, and support communication between the office and the field.
Madilynn is currently working towards her Associates of Science in Construction Management at Seminole State College, which she is expected to complete in the next year. Her work at Habitat supports her studies through hands-on experience managing subcontractors and building relationships with people in her field.
Regardless of where she is living, Madilynn always makes an effort to volunteer with a local Habitat for Humanity. When she was nineteen, she volunteered for Habitat for Humanity of Tuscaloosa, working on the building site to help construct affordable houses. She then went to volunteer for Habitats in Baton Rouge, LA, and Lake Sumter, FL, before joining our Seminole-Apopka affiliate.
One of her first build days at Habitat Seminole-Apopka was for Women in Architecture in March 2025. Madilynn spoke with many of the women on the build site and was fascinated by the variety of opportunities and positions that are available in the construction field. She reflected on the impactful day saying, “I was fascinated that there were so many routes, like there were no two people who did the same thing.”

“When you see people like you, doing something you want to do, it makes it feel real. It was eye opening.”

Habitat Seminole-Apopka hosts an annual Women Build fundraiser where teams of ten individuals compete to raise money and help support the construction of affordable homes. This event embraces the diversity of the construction field, encouraging women to join build sites and learn more about home development and affordable homeownership.
As Madilynn notes, construction “is not just slamming a hammer. There is a lot that goes on behind the scenes,” but this month-long event offers an introduction into the craft and its many facets.
