Brayahna

A warm, loving environment for my son is everything

After learning about Habitat’s homebuyer program from her aunt, Brayahna worked with Habitat Seminole-Apopka’s HUD certified councilor to meet the financial standards for the program, beginning her journey towards homeownership. Brayahna is a client processor at a global financial services corporation, and a single mother to a nine-year-old son.

Brayahna and her son lived in a small apartment on a rental property that struggled with a severe pest infestation issue. Brayahna reported having to live with cockroaches in every room in her home, including the kitchen, and regardless of how clean they kept everything the pests persisted. This situation brought feelings of anxiety and discomfort to the family, making Brayahna more determined to secure a safe permanent home for her and her son.

Before purchasing her Habitat home, Brayahna reflected on the value of homeownership, saying, “Being able to own something that I can call mine and also teach what I know and learn from the program to my son and to others is my goal.”

Brayahna and her son are now able to enjoy their new space Brayahna continues to enjoy hobbies such as reading, painting, and making custom creations with her heat press in the security of her new home.
