After a day of advising clients on the best cruises and tours to take, Mariah returns home to her 13-year-old daughter to curl up on the couch for a movie night. On weekends, the two enjoy going to the beach, and Mariah also spends time with friends and reads to nursing home residents in her spare time.
Mariah says she believes her prayers for the opportunity to buy a home were answered when she saw information included in an email sent out by her employer, leading her to learn more about Habitat Seminole-Apopka’s homebuying program and apply to become a future homebuyer. She looks forward to being the first homeowner in her family, saying, “Growing up, all I heard about was the American Dream. Now at thirty-five, I’ve yet to experience that life.”
This opportunity is also motivating Mariah to pursue a promotion which requires a home office, something her current living situation doesn’t allow.
When asked what homeownership means to her, Mariah explains that it represents independence and the freedom to “walk outside barefoot or open the front door and feel the breeze.” She says she can’t wait to sign the papers, turn the key, and have a home of her own.
