Nia is a dedicated healthcare worker who works tirelessly to support individuals and families in our community. Despite her hard work, she has been living in an unaffordable apartment, where over half of her income goes toward rent—leaving little room for savings or stability.
Her connection to Habitat goes back to childhood. Growing up in Milwaukee, WI, she watched her aunt partner with Habitat and receive the keys to her new home during a Milwaukee Brewers baseball game. Later, her cousin also became a Habitat homeowner and often shares how purchasing her refurbished townhome was one of the best decisions of her life. Inspired by their experiences, Nia is excited to follow in their footsteps.
For Nia, homeownership is more than just having a place to live. When asked what it means to her, she shared, “Homeownership means to me a way to build generational wealth and having pride of owning something big.”
With the help of Habitat and our supporters, Nia is now taking the first step toward a brighter, more secure future—for herself and the generations to come.
