Originally from Pennsylvania, Tyler first experienced the stability of a secure home after watching his parents work hard to move their family from a mobile home into a Habitat for Humanity home. Tyler believes his family’s journey taught him the value of hard work, volunteerism, and community. These lessons have shaped his life, from traveling to Mississippi to help rebuild homes after Hurricane Katrina, to his current work with Seminole County, where he gives back to the community he has called home for over a decade.
When asked which part of the Habitat homebuying process excites him most, Tyler said one of the most rewarding parts is “getting to help grow community.” He is looking forward to working alongside volunteers on the jobsite and getting to know his future neighbors through Habitat events and sweat equity.
After living in a worn apartment with an inattentive landlord for over ten years, Tyler is within reach of owning a home of his own. For Tyler, homeownership means a secure place of his own to host guests and enjoy quality time with the people closest to him, including his sister and nephews. Reflecting on his own journey, Tyler says that “with time and effort, homeownership is within anyone’s reach.”
