As a current AmeriCorps service member, Lauren Rodgers works to help fight economic hardship in communities by supporting Habitat for Humanity in their mission to advance affordable housing solutions throughout Central Florida. Lauren is a member of Habitat’s marketing and communication team, and she is responsible for writing, publishing, and updating homebuyer stories, as well as supporting Habitat’s Homebuyer Services Department in the promotion and communication of their public, no-cost workshops. Lauren also helps with minor website updates, and any other general writing and editorial needs the affiliate may have.
Lauren graduated from the University of Georgia with her Bachelor of Arts in English and an Interdisciplinary Writing Certificate. During her time at UGA, she worked as a communication intern for the Writing Intensive Program and a marketing intern for the University of Georgia Press. These experiences exposed her to social media and web communications and some of the strategies that prove successful in that field. Lauren has also worked as a student journalist at a community college where she wrote impactful stories on various local individuals, familiarizing her with community engagement and service. She hopes to further Habitat’s mission by sharing powerful homebuyer stories and important promotional resources with the local Central Florida community, helping to increase awareness of the need for more affordable housing.
